Lost
So - what is the deal with people's sub-consciousnesses on this Island? That's got to be one of the biggest clues going. Not that I know what that ultimately means.
"Living is easy with eyes closed,
misunderstanding all you see..."
Strawberry fields
the Beatles
Charlie's tattoo.
Go ask Alice,
I think she'll know.

Ok I'll admit it
when it comes to teevee - I'm a wee tiny bit psychic.
K9 is on his way back!

AAaaaaargh!
Totally by chance I happened upon that E4 had started a new series of the US version of Queer as Fok tonight. Y'know god forbid that E4 should bother themselves to let us know about it - like they overhype everything else... but I missed the chance to record it. No problembo - I saw it was to be repeated later at 3.05 AM - set the recorder for then... and it'll be even better because they they used to repeat it at that time - it didn't even have any commericals in it. Cool. Except... except... this time round there's a tiny man in the corner flapping about all over the place doing deaf and dumb language, they didn't tell me they were going to do that! Do they perhaps repeat at any other time during the week? So I can get a chance of a clean copy - like they usually over-repeat everything else to fill up their air time? Nah. No, not for the poofs - "one shot only dears - but yu should be grateful you're getting anything at all". Argh!
Oh well...

lost
of course you watched the pilot of Lost on Channel 4 this week didn't you?
(cue a very cold hard stare your way if you didn't.)
But I've just looked at the flash-driven channel 4 Lost website - ooooh it's good.
PS thanks to Pete Ashton for mentioning this prog. on his blog. He has good taste that man.

we like to binge
Judges bitch and whine that having longer licensing hours will lead to more trouble in the streets.
Mmmm, do I detect a whiff of snobbish class-prejudice here?
Doesn't anyone think that our ludicrous licensing hours (which where originally put in place at the time of the First World War in order to stop workers turning up drunk at work the next day) might be to blame for the situation? Along with all those 'Happy hours' some pubs run to get the punters in, and then having to drink as much as possible before the pubs shut? Blah blah blah...
So why isn't anyone calling for drastically reduced hours then? Say three hours a day max? Why not Prohibition even?
I don't know what it is about life in Britain at the moment that's leading to so many more people binge-drinking. It's apparent no one is even asking those questions - but it does suggests a deep malaise lurking at the heart of our society. One that no tinkering with licensing hours and taxes on booze is going to cure.
I know I've definitely been on binge-drinking benders in my time - but that was the only way I could make going out on what passed for the gay scene in Nottingham even remotely tolerable - especially when most everyone else was on E and other drugs.
Those where the days - groan.

Hi, I’m back.
I had a unintentional surprise break from the internets courtesy of BT broadband. Somehow or other they couldn’t quite grasp the concept that once you’ve set up a direct debit with them - then it’s up to them to take out their monthly fee - not wait three months not taking their money and then send out two statements telling you you’re in credit(!!!) with them and then unexpectedly cut off the service!*
If BT would actually spend a small fraction of the money - energy and effort they expend in marketing and promoting themselves (which is just in effect legalised lying, ** ) into providing a good sound reliable value-for-money service - then they might get actually somewhere. They also haven’t quite grasped that they’re not a monopoly anymore and simply can’t keep on acting as arrogantly as if they still were. As it is some new ISP is getting the money for my broadband service.
*I’ve a friend where the opposite happened with his ordinary phone line rental where they gleefully took hundreds of pounds out of his account which he didn’t ever owe them, on top of which he was already paying for the free evening and weekends call deal.
**and BT - those stupid sales calls you keep making to me are thoroughly annoying and only put me off you even more.
