well Hello Big Brother
This is scary. Truly insanely scary. Why not go the whole hog and have every single last person in the UK wear one of those electronic tags they make criminals under house arrest wear? After ID cards and the National database that'll be the next thing.
Sweet Zombie Jeezuz.

Cut to picture of Prez Bush saying that there's no such thing as global warming and the US can't do anything that might hurt the Merikan economy.

One day an ipod user...
...was walking down the road when another man accidentally bumped into him knocking the earbuds out of the ipods users ears.
Suddenly the ipod wearer fell to the floor - went blue in the face - choked and quickly died. The guy couldn't understand it - there was no way he had hit the ipod chap hard enough to have killed him. Then he heard the ipod's earbuds still playing so he put one of the buds into his ear - the ipod was going "...breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out..."

Oh Great
I'm currently under attack from another lame comments-spammer. This one posts a random selection of mainly movie title links for some non-readily apparent reason. Unless it's done just to piss me off - in that case - mission accomplished there. Seriously, what is wrong with these people? There's got to be some sort of psychological damage going on. Can't they go and work in call centres where they belong?
Update:
I've closed the commenting facility on older entries - if anyone feels the burning desire to comment on something (pause for raucous laughter to die down) you'll have to send an email instead. You know how to email dontcha?

ID fraudsters
ID fraudsters target job centre staff.
Ok. I'm wondering how long it's going to take before someone in the Government is going to put in a claim along the lines of: "if only we had ID cards then this sort of thing would never have happened". To which I will now pre-counter claim that: if this is the level of security we can expect from our own Government departments in not being able to protect even it's own worker's personal data, then God help us when all our personal details are in the hands of a centralised Government database.
Has noone ever heard the proverb about 'not putting all your eggs in one basket'?

incompetent design
One of the things in life that has my jaw dropping to the floor in disbelief is 'creationism' - the utterly preposterous idea that because we don't always know how things in nature have come to be how they are (yet)-then it instantly follows an invisible sky god must have made it that way. So I loved finding this little article about so-called intelligent design. That invisible sky god would have to be pretty dumb to make those kind of mistakes in the human body (and if we're all supposed to made in 'his'(?) image - why aren't we invisible too?)

Science is my religion
The Republican War on Science.
Sighs. Well, that's what you get after the neo-conservatives in the US twigged (quite cynically, and totally hypocritically) that they could get a lot of extra votes for themselves simply by pandering to the vast pool of none-too-bright 'Moral Majority' Christian Fundamentalists there.

'King of the Ants'
Blimey. So I rented this film after having heard it mentioned on ‘Shock Movie Massacre” - it was only after having doing a quick google - I noticed it was directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-animater etc.) but it was written by Charles Higson. Charlies Higson?!!? Of the ‘Fast Show’? of the Reeves and Mortimer remake/remodelling of ‘Randall and Hopkirk’ ? of “Swiss Toni”?
Yup - it is that guy. Turns out he’s written some very dark books as well. (I'll be keeping an eye out for those now.)
That the lead actor Chris McKenna is very tasty and that we get to see him with his clothes off is a big bonus.
George Wendt Interview (he was 'Norm' from 'Cheers' y'know.)
