Food

Thoughts that I think:

Once upon a time humans kept animals for food - because when you think about it, animals turned all the things we can’t eat off the land - grass, roots, seeds, berries, inedible grains into things we could eat. - meat, milk, eggs etc. Which was all very good - except nowadays we grow things we could easily eat ourselves to feed to the animals which we now routinely keep only for the purpose of killing and eating. Of course that’s got completely out of hand and I read that they’ve been chopping down lots of irreplaceable rain forest in order to grow soya beans, (a bean so bland and boring in taste that so much has to be done to it to make it palatable) which are to be used for cattle and chicken feed.

That's just insane. The human race as a whole is totally cuckoo-looney-tunes crazy mad.

Uh uh - my nonsense spammer is back

Very perplexing - a set of random links not closed off properly - nonsense phrases and a weird rel="itsok". Is that supposed to break the "nofollow" tag or something? All I can guess is that someone's trying gum up the spam filters by crap flooding them - softening them up for a full scale attack ater. It's a total waste of time though - there are no spam filters to break, because I am the spam filter.

I've been long considering a move over to Blogger.com anyway and using this site for something else...

Lost

So Channel 4 has started it's teasers for the new season of Lost.

If you lower your expectations - and lower them you must, it's just about OK. Although it's become all too obvious that the show's own success -and so it being expanded from a proposed three up to five (!!!) seasons -is working against it. It's evident the shows creators simply haven't got that much worthwhile material for a run that long. So get ready for lots and lots of padding. Dreary pointless soap-opera style padding getting in the way of what could be a brilliant show.

If you don't mind a few light spoilers this article sums up the problems with the show better than I can.

I've even been considering writing a series of study notes so that UK fans can be spared wasting too much time on this season.

mac = most applications crash

This Seems to be Happening a Lot Lately :(

(*I haven't seen one of those on my 'puter for ... well, I actually can't remember the last time. I suspect it might be when a faulty hard drive was dying on me. I haven't had one since.)

Oh and before any mac-fan starts whinging at me again - it's not that I'm against macs - I'm only against the hardcore mac fundamentalists. They freak me out completely.

I still don't get it

Now think for a moment - how many mobile phone manufacturers there are in the world and how many different models of phone there are. There's got to be thousands upon thousands right? Now all the phone manufacturers understand a basic concept: that their product is going to be carried around - in bags - in pockets - so they make them quite robust to stand up to the wear and tear of this. None of them have found this particularly difficult to achieve. Yet Apple - that supposedly innovative company (cough) when it comes to their most popular product -the iPod -just can’t. So they sell it with a pouch and other people have had to invent special coating and surfaces which ipod owners have to pay extra for (as if anything with an Apple logo on wasn’t vastly overpriced already) just to be able to do what a portable mpg player is designed to do - be portable.

I really don’t get what is wrong with people.

triteness

One of my diary entries I found for 3rd Oct 2005

So I’m sat on the bog reading a very dull Posy Simmon’s cartoon in the weekend Guardian -which as it happened featured a writer reading a book while on the bog…

And I found myself thinking ‘Jesus -what trite boring lives most middle class people lead and don’t they just love going on about it - on and on and on…”
