inadequate
The other night I was watching the news about the New Orleans disaster and was just horrified by how desperate things where there - particularly how long it was taking for the rescue services to get in there and do their job. I started out writing what going to be a blog entry or essay or something, but then I ended up knocking out a quick graphic in photoshop. It took all of 25 minutes. I ended up slapping it up on flickr - thinking I'd be lucky if only my uual audience of 35 to 50 people bothered to look at it.
It's had 1442 hits now.
Scary.
The Flickr community is responding to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina with the Katrina Relief Auction Group raising funds for American Red Cross Emergency Relief.
In related news flickr hits the BBC news website again. This is about the Yahoo buy up.
I can just feel this being the beginning of the end. There's no way that Yahoo are going to be able to resist tinkering with their new purchase and in the end they're bound to break it sooner or later.

the least viewed photo I have on Flickr
I'm fascinated by what does and doesn't get the most views in my photostream (as they call it) - obviously the pictures that need to be seen large to be seen properly get high hits, whereas the simple clear ones you can see from the thumbnails get the least. Then after that what gets the most hits are anything with bare flesh, then food (chocolate bars are always a big hit on Flickr.) then cute culty things like certain toys... then cute animals - least seems to be the sunrise and sunset pictures. Combine cultish toys and bareflesh and you're onto a real winner...
Now what do you think this says about us humans?

My local chip shop has this life-sized fisherman outside - so I was surprised to his his identical twin brother out in West Worthing - judging by the pair of kids' trainers he or the fish he's holding must've eaten a small child. Conscience pricker.
 | Well, I'm still waiting for my forgetful bf to do something about getting over to me all my digital photos from the San Francisco trip. Tsk-tsk. They were on his laptop and I got all excited when one weekend he'd actually remembered to bring it down with him. Of course he'd forgotten -for some reason he'd transferred all of them to his work computer. Where they're currently 'Doing a fat lot of good'™ D'oh.
(Oddly enough at the same time he can't understand why on Earth I should want one of those portable gadgets that store digital data -photos, mpgs, movies etc. Hum.) Do you think I'll ever see them again before he leaves his old job? I'm beginning to wonder... |

more disappointments
bum. i've only now just discovered -after having to buy a buggery bollocking infrared adapter today just in order to be able to upload the pictures (more expense -but a nifty piece of kit in it's own right -although vastly over-priced) -that the camera I bought for my phone is a great streaming pile of pooh. It's not an proper offical Sony Ericsson phone attachment and it shows. Damn. I'm putting the whole lot back up on ebay and hope to get at least some of my money back...
