Larry Kramer on the ‘Tragedy of Today’s Gays’
“I hope we all realize that, as of Nov. 2, 2004, gay rights in our country are officially dead.”

playing it dumb...
So because there's nothing else much on tonight I’m watching this truly awful ‘Playing it Straight’ programme on Channel 4. (Danny B is cute though - shut up - I can be shallow if I want. Although it would take a strong effort to get as shallow as this braindead wreck of a programme. -Even Gay.com doesn't think much of it.)
And I’m left thinking whatever happened to when there were TV programs made by gay/queer/lesbian/homosexualist folk for gay/queer/lesbian/homosexualist folk. It happened a few times back in the 80s. It was all very daring and innovative -even though at the time many complained a lot of those programmes was just a bit too arty for them. *Eye roll* At last it happened. But nowadays although there are lots of openly homosexualist peoples on the TV -in reality we’re lapsed back to being there as entertainment figures for an almost exclusively heterosexual audience. No one but me seems to think that that is altogether a bit crap really.
I suppose it must date back to when Boyz the publication cottoned on that the mass of gaymen are actually staggeringly stupid and easily pleased. As soon as the rest of the media world also got the message - things were never the same after that. The great widescale dumbing down begain in earnest.
*Sighs* I despair.

gay TV -revisited
Hey! Stop stealing my ideas you bastards.
(I'm lame -I never got around to doing the mock TV schedule I was going to do. I think Xmas got in the way or something. There is now a GayTV but I've been told it only shows rubbish soft porn.)
[Just a sudden random thought why don't we have italics that lean backwards as well as forwards - I'm sure they'd be useful for something.]

Are you annoying enough?
Oh, I tried watching a bit of Skys How Gay Are You? last night. But it was just too annoying. They obviously have confused the word Gay to mean variously: being empathic and sensitive, not being a total jerk, taking care of your appearance, not being a complete slob. They cant have met some of the selfish/insenstive/obnoxious/slovenly/stinky gay men Ive had the misfortune to have had the acquaintance of over the years, who havent had any of those qualities. Stereotyping -dontcha just love it?
(Funny how theyve changed the meaning of gay to imply being a tad bit effeminate rather than to be someone who enjoys having a regular bit of hot man on man action. Why havent they any questions about that then -rather than whether or not they use a bit of moisturiser? )
Lookee where they probably got the idea for the program from...

let us entertain -the hets
Sky One has been advertising this ...what is it exactly? A game show, a interactive quiz show? to be shown this Sunday 10pm... "How Gay Are You?" and I've just stumbled upon this program which is to be shown on the American FOX TV network "Seriously Dude, I'm gay" in which "For one week a pair of straight guys will immerse themselves in the gay lifestyle. Each will move into separate West Hollywood lofts, complete with three gay roommates, to experience what its like to live life as a gay man. Of course there's a cash prize at stake.*
"Our failed attempt at humor was ill-chosen and inappropriate," the network said.
Hmmmm pity they didn't think that when the proposal for the show was made.
Oh hum. So we're still being classed as light frothy entertainment for the heterosexuals then. Nice.
*Found via queerpopculture.
Update: After I wrote this I saw Southpark doing their own take on the whole metrosexual thang tonight. Yes, the Queer Eye folk they are the Crab people - it all makes sense now.

Cor blimey
Oh. So after practically inventing homophobia and developing an deeply ingrained general sex-phobia for everyone else over centuries -the Church of England is now going to have a sit-down to discuss the whole homosexual issue thing -again. Big whoop-de-whoop. They might even have a talk about gay marriages. Eeek, they'll be declaring the Earth isn't flat and that it goes around the sun and not the other way round next.
